Pressure Cooker Black Beans


  • 1 ounces dry black beans. 
  • 8 cups of water. 
  • 1 teaspoons cumin. 
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder. 
  • 1 teaspoon paprika. 
  • ½ medium white onion, diced. 
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced. 
  • 1 poblano pepper, diced. 
  • 3 ½ cup low sodium chicken broth. 
  • 1 teaspoon of salt and black pepper.


  1. To the pressure cooker add the beans, water salt and black pepper. Stir everything together. 
  2. Lock the pressure cooker lid and set it to pressure cook at high temperature for 4 minutes. 
  3. When the cooking time is done, let the pressure release from the cooker for 10 minutes. 
  4. Dry and rinse the beans. 
  5. To the same pot switch to sauté mood. Add in the onions, pepper and garlic along with the spices. 
  6. Stir for 2 minutes then add in the beans and broth. 
  7. Close the lid, switch to bean/chili mood and cook for 15 minutes. 
  8. Beans are ready to serve.
